Ken’s Trees

These photos just seem to get taller and taller, this little dawn redwood sprout is growing fast.  Had I gone with a weekly photo, I am not sure I could convince anyone that they were looking at the same sprout I photographed last week.

Happy Birthday Cassandra!

I went without the flash on my camera today, I thought it was making the tree look too yellow.   Now the leaves look too dark, I cannot seem to capture the true bright green color of the leaves on my camera.

If you look carefully, you can actually count five sets of true leaves.

I’m going to make Meg jealous, because I have two more sprouts popping out of the soil to report today. Also more good news, I have an order of new tree seeds that was shipped yesterday. What type of trees will I be growing next? You’ll just have to tune in this week to find out.

I hope everyone enjoyed watching the sprout grow this week, it is amazing how quick this is taking off.  It’s that time of the week to thank everyone visiting, commenting, and letting others know about it.  Although I had a busy week and did not get the chance to visit too many blogs this week, there were a couple of you that stopped by and commented.  So I have a couple of shout outs this week:

The Wicked Gardener may be experiencing some depression outdoors waiting for the long winter to end, but she is making up for it with some great looking indoor plants.

Good news everybody, I have a second sprout that is pushing its way out of the soil.   Hopefully there will be others following shortly.

This thing just keeps pushing out more leaves, the second set broke apart exposing yet another set working it’s way up.  Still no growth from the other seeds I planted, it has been about the same amount of time this one took to sprout, so no need to worry yet.  Happy Friday!

Three weeks in to this try, and the seedling is still looking strong!

The first true leaves broke apart yesterday, exposing another set of leaves that are still stuck together at the top. The outline of the smaller set can just barely be made out in this photo, look carefully at the true leaf on the left.
